A SOIREE IN SALUTE OF IO
on Feb 28 in Uncategorized by admin@insideoutdetroit.orgIO is still grateful to the more than 200 people who flocked into The Peacock Room in Midtown Detroit recently in support of our race to capture $25,000 challenge grant from Hollywood movie producer, Bob Shaye.
The event, Sonnets, Shopping and Champagne, was co-sponsored by The Peacock Room and Detroit Snob, a popular new line of t-shirts. Through donations and purchases, IO received nearly $2,000.
“Thanks for showing the love to some of Detroit’s most talented students!” said Rachel Lutz, owner of the Peacock Room. “…Unbelievable night.” Fiber artist Carole Harris also showed her support for IO by donating 15% of the sales of her trademark scarf collection. Champagne for the evening was provided courtesy of Nuria Garrote i Esteve and her company, Vin Vi & Co.
In a public thank you to her supporters, Detroit Snob founder Desiree Cooper hailed the night as another sign of a new spirit of collaboration in Detroit. ”It’s true – a Detroit Snob is not just a slogan,” said Cooper, who is also a longtime IO board member , “it’s a mentality, a community, a way of life. You guys are the greatest!”
Also, be sure to check out the blog IO founder Terry Blackhawk wrote for Huffpost Detroit. She nailed the spirit of the night and the city’s embrace of all things creative.
If you missed the event, you can still donate at www.insideoutdetroit.org.
