“The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.” – Malcolm X

For more than two decades, InsideOut Literary Arts has inspired over 50,000 young people to “think broadly, create bravely and share their voices with the wider world.”

Through professional instruction and mentorship, InsideOut invests in the development of craft and technique, turning “ordinary students” into exceptional writers. Even more importantly, our programming uses the power of words to amplify youth voice through transformative experiences that boost and sustain self-expression and self-confidence.

The Dr. Terry Blackhawk Fund for Program Excellence, named in honor of our founder, has been created to ensure that InsideOut’s excellent programs continue to thrive, well into the future. This fund provides much needed flexibility and sustainability to the organization, allowing it to ride out the ever-changing funding landscape. It will serve as a vehicle for sustaining our in-school, Writer-in-Residence programming.

Strategic philanthropy is truly powerful. By investing in this fund, you will ensure that InsideOut has the resources to continue to provide consistent, coordinated and effective programming, year after year.
