INSIDEOUT LITERARY ARTS PRESENTS SCRATCH THE PAGESaturday, February 15thWorkshop 12:30–2:15pm, Open Mic 3pm – 4pmAdmission: Free and open to all teensExperience the mind-blowing power of poetry during this workshop and open mic event, featuring nationally recognized writers, who work with teens from Metro Detroit to touch the stage with their original poetry and spoken word performances. Lunch is provided for teens.The general public is invited to join the audience for the open mic and performance.JERICHO BROWN is the recipient of a Whiting Writers’ Award and fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Among his many out- standing accolades, Brown has been honored with both the American Book Award and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award. Brown’s poems have appeared in many notable publications including The Nation, The New York Times, The New Yorker, The New Republic, and The Pushcart Prize Anthology. Her work has appeared on AFROPUNK.com, Button Poetry, The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, and most recently Imagoes: A Queer Anthology (Love, Pain & Poetry Publishing). Currently she serves as a staff writer for pop culture website Black Nerd Problems as well as poetry editor for literary magazine FreezeRay Poetry.
