The Detroit Youth Poetry Con is an immersive day of writing workshops, performance, community building and exposure to artists and creative pathways for teens. Poetry Con takes place at Wayne State University, featuring special guest Mahogany Jones.
The Detroit Youth Poetry Con will take place on Saturday, March 14th, 2026 and is FREE and open to attend for all teens. Registration required. Registration closes on March 10th, 2026.
Teens may register for all or part of the day’s schedule.
- 11am – Early Bird Perks & Activities
- 11:30am – Lunch & Youth Open Mic
- 12pm – Youth-Led Writing Workshop
- 1pm – Open Mic & Student Showcase
- 2pm – Creative Career Pathways Sessions
- 3:30pm – Mahogany Jones Workshop and Performance
- 5pm – Dinner, Open Mic, and Fit Check
- 5:45pm – Closing Activities and departure
