Join InsideOut Literary Arts for a hands-on creative writing workshop with acclaimed poet, artist, and educator Brittany Rogers in response to Tiff Massey’s exhibit 7 Mile + Livernois. Participants will explore Massey’s brilliant tribute to Detroit while discussing Massey’s featured themes, including adornment, beauty, and class. Participants will write creative works which focus on poetic forms such as ode and ekphrastic while crafting their own responses to the exhibition. The workshop is designed for teens and adults.
 
Participants will meet in Conference Room A & B (on the main floor next to the cafeteria) before visiting the exhibit.

Registration is required for this 2-hour writing workshop.

Instructor

Brittany Rogers is poet, visual artist, educator, and life-long Detroiter. She has work published or forthcoming in The Hopkins ReviewThe Poet LoreIndiana Review, Four Way ReviewMississippi ReviewLambda Literary, and Oprah Daily, among others. Brittany is Editor-in-Chief of Muzzle Magazine, host of VS Podcast, and author of the poetry collection Good Dress (Tin House, 2024), a finalist for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literery Work in Poetry.
