Discover the vibrant world of poetic expression with InsideOut Literary Arts Detroit at the DIA. Arab American student members will showcase their creativity and unique perspectives through captivating and heartfelt verses. Join us for an inspiring journey through the power of words, where young voices illuminate the richness of their heritage and experiences.

In addition to InsideOut students, guests will enjoy readings by Dunya Mikhail, Rewa Zenaiti and Wafaa Mustafa.

Rewa Zeinati is an award-winning poet and naturalized U.S. citizen with Lebanese and Palestinian roots. She is the author of Bullets & Orchids (Corrupt Press, 2013) and founder and editor of Sukoon magazine. Her second poetry chapbook, Difficult, is forthcoming by Diode Editions in 2024.

Dunya Mikhail is an Iraqi American poet and writer. She is a laureate of the UNESCO Sharja Prize for Arab Culture. She works as a special lecturer of Arabic and poetry at Oakland University in Michigan.

Wafaa Mustafa is an Iraqi poet from Dearborn and a graduate of Wayne State University where she studied English and philosophy. She is a teaching artist with InsideOut Literary Arts.

For families with children 8 and up. Presented with live ASL interpretation.
