Join InsideOut on Saturday, January 20th at the Scarab Club for a poetry reading with Visiting Writer Mahogany Jones. InsideOut’s Visiting Writer Series is an opportunity to hear work from nationally-renowned writers and Detroit’s youth poets. This free event will include a performance by InsideOut’s 2023 Youth Performance Troupe followed by a performance by our Visiting Writer.
Mahogany Jones is a HipHop Recording Artist, Artist Educator, and US Musical Ambassador who lives to empower, educate, and inspire. She is Grammy Award considered artist and is most noted for her 4x undefeated win as BET’s 106 & Park Freestyle Friday Champion. She has been a United Way Brand Ambassador, and a TEDX speaker. As an Arts Educator she proudly continues to work alongside some of Michigan’s most impactful non-profits, InsideOut Literary Arts and The Yuinon. As a recording artist she has released 6 albums to date with her most recent “Better.” Mahogany is the proud wife of Dre Marshall, mother to Elle, and Bonus Mom to Jazymn and AJ.

Before the reading will be a free lunch and writing workshop for **teens only** (no registration required).
